| Featured Player of the Month Keith and Teresa Carlson
 |
These players were nominated by their former captain, Mike Stockdale of team "Snake Pit."
"Keith and Teresa Carlson, helped form our new team, three years ago. We were just a group of friends, mostly co-workers, who decided to get together and play. Keith, Mike Shrider, Jerry Williams, Rhett Driggers, and I worked at Williams Technologies as machinists. Thursdays we would get together and play pool, and I would tell them each week how my competition went in the team I was on. Eventually, they all decided to join a team if I would head it up, so we started a team.
Keith went up to a strong six, and his wife Teresa worked hard to learn defense and strategy, eventually coming up from a two to a three. I relied on their strength to get us through many tough times. They would always be the first to volunteer to keep score, and they were always the first ones there ready to compete before anyone else arrived. They were always practicing. Their determined attitudes kept us positive.
|
So when other player's handicaps went up, and it became impossible to play all handicaps, I reluctantly called a meeting, to ask for volunteers to leave the team. These guys were the ones who volunteered to leave the team so that we may recruit lower handicaps. They volunteered because of the betterment of the team, and for no other reason. They always put others before themselves, and it was a sacrifice all the way around. It hurt to see them go.
They are a team as a couple. Keith is as serious as anyone can get, and Teresa keeps things in perspective! Together their positive attitude was the root of success for our team, which is one of the elements I am sure that got us to Vegas last year. How can you replace that? We can only try to stay competitive, and balanced, like before.
I can try to extend a thanks to them, but it's hard to say thanks under the circumstances."
Mike Stockdale
Congratulations Keith and Teresa!
